FOLLOW-UP Review.
I can't speak highly enough of Gumps VA. I have to say... Trust the Process! They got me to where I was meant to be. At times, I didn't understand their processes and that was my fault. You can watch too much YouTube. There is great info out there though. Without Gumps VA i wouldn't be where I am today in the process. They were able to find additional items to claim that I would never have thought of. You should still advocate for yourself. Get the information that you need. Do be afraid to reach out and ask those questions. Ask, "What do I need to do?" Don't sit back and wait for someone to do it for you. That being said, they are there to help you and will if you let them. If you are looking for someone to help you submit claims and help navigate the muddy river of the VA, Gumps VA is my trusted guide.

I wrote another review when I was not agreeing with how they were guiding my cases. YouTube will give you great information on the process of the VA but may not be how Gumps VA approaches it. The VA Disability journey is just like the military, not easy, not always fun and a lot of hurry up and wait. Be patient and Trust the Process. When in doubt, reach out to them. They are always available.

I want to clarify some of the issues below. Communication is what you make it. If you are not getting the communication that you need, initiate it. You are not their only VET even though you may feel that you should be. JANET SAPIO has always responded and had answers to my questions and issues. It may not always be what you want to hear. But this is what they do for a living. They know how to Navigate this river. Submitting claims, know and understand what they are doing. Don't assume that you do. After they submit them, it's hard to undo it. Again, Advocate for yourself. If you don't like it, say something. If you feel that you should be doing something else, ask them. They are there to help. That was my pitfall. I was waiting on them to do it all when there are many things that I could and should be doing along the way.

I learned so much along this journey. There are many things that I would do the same and change. The one thing that I would do again is have GUMPS VA represent me.

This review is neither good nor bad. That’s why it’s a three. I’ve been working with Gumps for the last two years. They have been able to get me to 70%. I am super thankful for that! But! That’s where the good stops. Their communication is terrible. No follow ups to the emails, no return phone calls. They submit claims without you knowing. I just had one go to the VBA Board of Appeals and never knew until I got an email from them. No discussion was ever had about this. There has been no guidance from day one through now. My education has been from YouTube. It has been a shotgun effect. Throw everything out there and see what sticks. The only person I’ve ever spoken to has has been my case manager. I’ve never spoke to my attorney, Allen. There’s so much information out there for you to research on your own. Do yourself a favor and Do a lot of research first. Try looking up The CivDiv on Facebook and YouTube FIRST! Educate yourself. Then if you feel you need compensation services reach out to Gumps VA. If you need to go to the board, try Gumps VA. No experience with them and the Board of Appeals yet but we’ll see how it goes in 3 years. I can’t complain too much as I am at 70%. But I would want you all to know my experience with them.

Don Warren is the absolute best. I really had no high hopes of getting anything from the VA. The process takes forever. But Don, bless him, stayed with my claim and made sure it had every piece of paper required. He followed through for three years and kept in contact with me every step of the way. His persistence paid off! The claim was finally settled and will make a huge difference for the rest of my life!!! I can't recommend Don Warren any more highly! He is also any an amazingly caring person!!! God Bless him!

From no claim to 100%.. it took 2 appeals 1 HLR and lots of C and P exams. Janet Sapio really knows her stuff! I understand that they are busy helping other anxious veterans so their communications back and forth with every veteran I am sure is hard to keep up with and that's the only thing holding me back from giving "5 stars". However, they got the job done for me. Well done Gumps VA Compensation Services!

Since they do not know how to call back or communicate, maybe from this review, they will change their ways. After my initial contact with them, they did well, then 5 months passed by without no contact, no answering emails or calls. I had surgery so I did receive 100% but when I had eval, they couldn’t fully evaluate my knee and then dropped to 80%.

8 months after surgery, I asked to have reeval on knee because I was having issues. I talked to case manager for about 40min explaining everything, then nothing for almost 3 months, then i talk again and she did nothing but assure me it would be filed, then nothing. I call again, get a male this time, he apologizes, says he will get it filed that same week, then nothing. I have to call again, wait for response, explain for the 4th time the problems I was having with my knee. I started asking in Aug, this is now the end of March and claim was finally filed. There were several claims, but nothing about my knee.

I finally went to the office because I couldn’t get call back when I received the papers for my exams and nothing was mentioned about my knee. They acted like no one ever goes into the office which was tiny, didn’t go into an office to discuss my case, they brought them out to the waiting room and I explained again, about my knee and why was I having an exam about depression and migraines? They acted like they had no idea what they were doing and told me they will ask those questions at exam, which they did not.

No guidance, no communication. Just saw the claim letter and nothing about knee, no increase.

I feel I just wasted a year because they do not communicate, do not listen, and do not care!

This review has nothing to do with the compensation I recieved with my first claim, this review is how they treat veterans and the lack of compassion and respect. You don’t drop the ball 4 /5 times and and say oops. Did they even read and understand my medical records.

I could have easily come in to the office and showed them everything in my records. Their processes are broken. DO BETTER

from a 23yr retired Navy man i had a hard time finding what to to but Janet Sapio helped me in every way she could and i received what i was suppose to from the VA she worked so hard even tho she and her company was not receiving any pay for my first claim they did me right and she was awesome she called me many time just to check on me and see if i need anything she could do. if you take anything from this Janet Sapio was one of the hardest working people i have ever had the pleasure of working with and she really cares more than most people would. i am just running at the mouth now but she is great ask for her you will never be on the back burner with her.
